My Reflection On my Multi Media Device (Project Rational)

My multi media device was a cool experiment something I have never done before in my life and I really enjoyed making my blog after I first got into. At first I tried to use the efolio but I considered that very hard for me for being so new at the whole multi media device idea. Then I used blogger.com which really took a lot of weight of my shoulders because it was extremely user friendly and made it really fun to work on my blog.

I chose my blog about wakeboarding because I am a wakeboarding fanatic and I really like to post pictures of my wakeboard camp but never had the knowledge how to. Even though I am becoming a shop teacher, wakeboarding does not apply but it’s a way of teaching and that is all that matters. I think I will definitely use a multi media device for my wakeboard camp next year (Kokanee water ski club wakeboard camp 2009) I think this will be very useful because there is no way for the people in the camp to keep in contact with me over the rest of the summer wakeboard season. With my multi media device I will be able to post new videos of me wakeboarding and hopefully I will be able to make a page where other people can post their wakeboard pictures. I also what a question page where I can ask peoples questions about wakeboarding and then answer them in word or with pictures.

I believe this class was great and it introduced me to a whole new way of teaching that I probably would have over looked it I was never forced into doing it. I can definitely see myself using this in my future shop classes because the whole world is going online and theirs no point for the shop teachers to be left behind.

What is a wakeboard?

This a wakeboard (Ronix one)

Standing up

Make sure to:

Ø Rest Elbows on your knees
Ø Have arms out straight
o Do not pull in and fight the boat
Ø Tilt board on a climbing angle in the water
o Don’t lay the board flat on the water or like a snow plow to the water
Ø Let boat pull you up until there is enough resistance to let you stand up
Ø Pull your arms in and stand up

Wakeboard binding setups

Pidgin toed

o Toes are pointed inwards not good for riding bad on the knees\
o Not a good way to wakeboard at all !!!

Snowboarder

o From foot is titled back foot is straight.
o Harder to ride switch (back foot forward)
o Harder on landings

Football Stance

o Easy on the knees
o Good for landings
o Good for riding switch
o Best stance to have

Board set up
It is important to:
Ø Have a comfortable riding set up
Ø Try not to set it up like a snowboard
o Wakeboards are wakeboards not snowboards so ride them like one
Ø Have your boots roughly shoulder width apart
Ø Have the Boots on angles roughly 10˚-25˚s off square with the board.
Ø Most importantly try to stand strong like a line backer in football
o Do not have your boots to close together it is easier to loose balance

This is about 10 degree angle from being square with the board (good angle)

Wakeboard Binding Setup and Learning how to Stand Up

What is wakeboarding?
It is:
Ø A sport done on water
Ø Behind a boat
Ø Using the wakes created by the boat as ramps
Ø The rider holds a handle attached to a rope (this is attached to the boat)
Ø The rider wears a life jacket !!!!!!
Ø He also uses a special board made to ride and carve on water
Ø This board has bindings that keep him on the board
